Dr. Joe Long is a native of Kentucky and graduated from University of Louisville then attended graduate school at University of Kentucky, doing research in infectious diseases before veterinary school at Auburn. Dr. Long met his wife Shain while in Auburn and she is a Pharmacist, working at Providence Hospital. They have lived in Mobile for 35 years and have two grown, married sons, Philip and Andrew, and now 5 grandchildren! Dr. Long’s interests include ophthalmology and radiology but recently has developed a keen interest in ultrasound, helping our practice improve our diagnostic imaging capabilities. Outside of practice, he is committed to teaching and attending various Bible studies and enjoys photography, travel, and is deeply devoted to his growing family. Currently, Dr Long is working part time and is on track to retire in Summer of 2022. He is pictured with his dog “Cash” who recently lost his battle with chronic kidney disease.
